Never Been Kissed Page 2

We pull up to my place a few minutes later. The rain starts to come down heavier. I open the door, running towards my house onto the covered deck. I kept waiting for her to say she wanted me to take her over to Bunny and Jameson’s place, but she hadn't. I wasn't going to throw the idea out there. Right now I am trying to remember how long they said the storms were going to last. I hope they last for a while so I have the chance to convince her to stay forever.

There is something wrong with me. I should be more scared of the man I’ve wrapped myself around than the storm that is pushing down on us. Still, the tighter I cling to him the better I feel. I hear the door shut and I finally make myself open my eyes. It’s stupid. As if closing your eyes could really take the threat away.

I feel him sit down as his hand starts to roam up and down my back. He’s trying to comfort me. It’s working more than I’m willing to admit. I notice he stays away from the gun that is strapped to my back. It’s always there when I’m working. I haven't had a chance to strip it off yet. But I’m glad he doesn’t try to move it or take it off me. It gives me a sense of security that nothing else had until I’d felt how it was to be in his arms.

“Are there a lot of storms here?” Slowly I start to lift my head. I can hear the rain starting to come down more. The sounds of the wind whipping against the house get louder.

“It’s storm season now. You can expect a lot of this, but they usually don’t last too long.”

“It’s fine.” He grabs me, pulling me in close to him. The man really is a gentle giant. He probably thinks I’m crazy. This isn't me. I don’t cling to a man. Hell, I don’t cling to anyone. Though if I were to pick someone to do it to, he is a very nice option. I’d be a liar if I didn't admit I found him more than handsome. There is something about him that has my thoughts drifting to him. It’s not only my mind now but my body too. I feel safe with him. “I have a basement that is more than secure.” He tries to reassure me even more.

“Can I see it?” I ask. He stands as soon as the words leave my mouth. He keeps on carrying me. I should tell him to put me down, but thunder shakes the whole house. I think I’ll stay put for now.

“Sorry.” I feel my nails dig into him.

“You’re fine, kitten.” He opens a door, heading down the stairs into the basement. It’s then I realize I asked a man I don’t know to take me into his basement. No one even knows where I am.

“I told my brother about you,” I blurt out. Just in case he’s a serial killer. I don’t get that vibe from him, though. It would be really disappointing if he was. The first time I’m into a man and he wants to kill me.

“Okay.” I turn to look at what he’s doing when I hear beeping sounds from what I’m guessing is a keypad. I see I’m right when another door at the bottom of the stairs swings open.

“What the hell?” I wiggle free of his hold. He lets me down onto my feet. “This a bunker or something?” I step past the doorway into the room.

“It’s my basement.” He shrugs. I step deeper inside, taking it all in. The walls are all lined in concrete. There isn't much to it. One wall has a few guns mounted to it. The rest is almost like another house under the house.

“This isn't a basement, it's a bunker.” I point back toward the door we came through that is still hanging open. It’s almost a foot thick. I’m sure the walls are just as thick. I look up at the ceiling knowing they are. A bomb wouldn't touch you down here, let alone a tornado. This is some serious shit. Who is Davis? This basement sure as hell doesn't scream farmer.

“You like it?” he asks, his voice almost perking up. I turn to look back at him. His eyes are on me again. The same as they'd been when we’d been at Jameson’s.

“It’s neat. You wouldn't even know it’s storming out.” I lick my lips. When I’d pressed my mouth against him I was trying to steal a taste of him. I don’t know what has come over me. Something about him causes me not to think straight. I actually like it. There is this new thrill to it.

“Are you scared of storms?” He takes a step closer to me. My body instinctively moves closer to him too.

“Yeah, always have been.” For as long as I can remember. Probably doesn't help that I lost my parents to an accident that was caused by a storm. I used to watch the storms with my dad when I was younger, but the day my brothers sat me down to tell me about their accident had changed that for me.

“Anything else you’re scared of?” Davis breaks me from my thoughts, causing me to tilt my head back to stare up into his eyes. I didn't know eyes could be as dark as his. My heart does something in my chest. I could swear by the look on his face that whatever my fears are he’s willing to go to war against them. Now I’m thinking I might need to add him to that list. I don't need to lose my heart to any man. Dating never goes well for me.

“Spiders.” I give. “Actually, all bugs.” I shiver, thinking about them. Then I look around the basement. Aren't spiders and bugs notorious for being in basements? Oh God. They’re probably all waiting to come out and get me when I least expect it. This place is both wonderful and scary at the same time.

“There shouldn't be any, but I can spray the place tomorrow to make sure. If the storms have let up by then.” I take another step closer to him. He reaches for me, pulling me right into his big body. I let myself go, not caring that I added him to my list of things to fear moments ago. My hands naturally fall to his broad chest. I usually don’t like to be manhandled.

At least I never have before. Growing up with so many brothers, I had my fill of it. This feels different, though. I feel safe in a way that I never have before. Believe me, that’s saying a lot based on how overbearing my brothers could be growing up. They’d say it was them being protective but I’d beg to differ. When I’m in Davis’ arms, nothing else seems to matter and that scares me more than any bug or storm ever could.

“You haven't eaten since your early lunch with Bunny.” My eyes leave his mouth that I hadn't realized I’d been staring at. His lips are full and perfect and he has a smile that hits me between my legs.

“I kind of forgot about food.” I really had. I’d gotten to the cabin and then it had hit me that I didn't have any. “Guessing you can’t order a pizza out here.” That was one of the things I’d have to get used to if I was going to stay here for a while. Back home, I could pretty much get anything delivered at any hour.

“You want pizza? I might have a few frozen ones,” he offers. “I can run up and check. If not I’ve got a fully stocked pantry.”

“You’re going to leave me down here with the spiders?” I look around the basement. I push more into him. It’s such an irrational fear. I know this, but nonetheless I still have it.

“The storm is up there.” He points above us. Right. That was the reason I ended up here to begin with.

“Right.” I bite my lip, thinking. “I invited myself over to your place.” Not only that, I keep trying to climb him like a tree. And he keeps letting me.

“I don’t do anything I don’t want to do.” He lifts his hand to my face but pulls it back before he touches me. There was no urge to smack it away. I’m actually disappointed he didn’t touch me. What is this man doing to me?

“And you want to make me pizza?” I tease.

“I want to feed you, but I also don’t want to leave you alone either if you’re scared.” I reach out and grab his hand.

“I’ll come with you.” His hand locks around mine as he guides me back up the stairs.

“The code to the door is 4276 if you need to get in.”

“Thanks.” When we hit the top of the stairs, I finally get to take in his home. There isn't much to it. Kind of like downstairs, but it’s big. Everything looks new but not really used. “This place is big. Is it only you that lives here?” My stomach drops.

I hadn't thought about there being someone else here. Oh, God. I climbed all over him. What if he has someone? I was so focused on being afraid that I hadn’t e
ven thought about him having someone.

If Davis was my man, I'd kill someone if they clung to him the way I’ve been. Maybe he’d go first for letting someone crawl all over him and then maybe the girl. In my defense, I didn't know. That’s not the type of woman I am. I let his hand go, stepping back and trying to put some distance between us so that I can clear my mind for a moment. Being around him has me all messed up in the thoughts department.

“Duke lives here too.” He points to the giant dog who’s lying on his back with his feet in the air.

“No girlfriend that might try to kill me?”

“I’m really not the type to have a girlfriend.” I both hate and love that answer. I want to ask why but I can’t bring myself to do it. Then he might think I want to be his girlfriend. Do I want to be his girlfriend? I can’t even believe that I’m asking myself that question. I’m beginning to lose my damn mind. I don’t even know this man. Plus, I’m not the type to have a boyfriend. I should get where he’s coming from. That doesn’t mean it isn't going to bug the crap out of me.

Thunder booms throughout the house. I jump, landing half on top of Davis. He catches me.

“I guess it’s for the best that you don’t have a woman,” I mumble. I can’t seem to stop throwing myself at him. And he can't seem to stop catching me.

I sit in my kitchen watching PJ as she moves around. Once she saw my kitchen she decided to make the pizza herself from scratch. I’m not much of a cook, but I keep the kitchen stocked when I’m home, knowing I can’t just run to get something in the middle of the night if I need it.

That’s the thing about living out here: you always need to be prepared. You don’t have the luxuries that you have in the bigger cities. But that’s also what makes this life so special. In exchange you get to enjoy nature and peace.

“What do you want on your pizza?” She turns to look at me. I know she catches me staring at her perfect ass. I bring my eyes up to meet hers. I can see the need there. I adjust my hard cock. It’s been that way the entire time that she’s been flitting around my kitchen. Each time she bends over, I have the urge to take her. She licks her lips, not helping my current situation. But my little kitten isn’t ready yet. I’ll have to be patient. I’m going to get her used to me. Show her I’m not going to do anything unless she wants me to.

She flinches when another round of thunder shakes the house. I want to go outside and beat the shit out of the storm, but I know that’s not possible. I also know that if it stops, there’s a high likelihood that my little kitten will want to leave. So I’m torn on whether or not I really want it to. She has relaxed some. I wonder if it’s the comfort of knowing she can go downstairs at any time.

  “Anything is fine.”

“So veggie?” Her full plump lips fight a smile. I’ve never paid much attention to someone’s lips before. Unless I was reading them. Hers I can’t stop watching. I can feel them on my neck still like a brand. She’s marked me and now I’m hers. That’s more than fine by me.

“If that is what you want to make me.”

“You want a meat lover’s, don’t you? Just admit it.” I want to put her on the counter and eat her but I’m guessing that’s not an option. I’d take my time savoring every lick I got of her.

  “What are you having?”

  “Meat lovers with extra cheese.”

“I’ll have the same.” She nods, going back to chopping up the toppings and then putting parmesan on the crust. She hums to herself as she does it. I could get used to this. It’s a whole lot better than anything else I’ve ever watched. Something settles inside of me. She brings a peace to me that I hadn’t realized I’d been searching for.

“What is it that you do, Davis?” She peeks at me over her shoulder. Her dark green eyes are surrounded by thick lashes. I swear they look directly into my soul. Never in my life have I felt so connected to someone before her.

“I own a farm.” It’s one of a few things I do. It also makes a very good cover for other things. I don’t do much of the farming anymore. At one time, it was all I did. Now I have hands that help me and a foreman that oversees most everything here just in case. I could up and leave at any moment. I never know when I’m going to get a call. I devoted myself to a cause and when I commit, I never back down, no matter what.

“This place is mighty nice for only owning a farm.” She pulls open the double doors of the oven that’s mounted into the wall, putting each of our pizzas inside before setting a timer. I’ve never understood why someone would need two ovens when the builder put them in, but I went with it because I didn't really give a shit. Now, I understand it. “Not going to lie. I didn't know farmers made this kind of money. You just do crop or cattle too?” No, farmers don’t make the kind of money I do, but I don't do anything for money.

“I’m mainly cattle, but I plant feed corn too.” She walks over to the fridge, pulling herself out a bottle of water. I’m enjoying that she’s making herself right at home. “I’ve got oil too. Not that I mess with that. Jameson handles it for me.” Then he cuts me a check. When he struck black gold he’d found it for both of us.

I didn't feel like tangling with it. I wasn't going to do anything about it until he said he'd handle it, so I let him. That world was one I didn’t want any part of. Now, I take my checks and call it a day.

She hops up on the counter, her legs swinging back and forth as she takes a long drink of her water. She’s entirely too far from me. I’m guessing she wouldn’t take too kindly to me picking her up and putting her into my lap. I’m not good at this courting thing. Fuck me. Is that even what it’s called? I don’t do this shit usually. I work and protect my country. That is the way it’s always been, but now I have the need to protect more than that.

Thunder booms through the house, making the lights flicker. Her whole body freezes. I’m on my feet coming to her side. The look of fear that flashes in her eyes cuts me to the bone.

  “You okay?”

“Just worried the pizza won’t get to cook.” I can see the tension in her body. She’s not worried about the damn pizza.

“Nothing is going to happen to you here. I can promise you that.” I try to reassure her. I want to tell her that the only thing that she should be scared of is me. About the fact that I’m never going to be able to let her go.

“I’m not always a scaredy cat.” She sits up a little bit taller. Straightening her shoulders, trying to show me her strength. But she doesn’t need to be strong in front of me. I want to see who she truly is. In time she’ll realize this and allow me to protect her.

“Nothing wrong with being scared of something.” She turns her head to look over at me. I’m leaning up against the counter next to her. I clench my hands into fists to keep from grabbing ahold of her. I don’t want to push her too much. I don’t even really know what the fuck I’m doing here.

  “What are you scared of?”

“Sleep.” That answer comes way too easy for me. Dreams are something you can’t control. I don’t think that I’ve ever told anyone else about them. But the words had slipped out so easily when she’d asked.

“You’re scared of dreams?” Her lips twitch, drawing my eyes there. Her pink tongue darts out across her bottom lip.

  “What else?”

“That I might never know what you taste like.” Those lips open and close a few times. Then her cheeks turn a shade of pink like her bubblegum tongue. My cock doesn't miss a second of it either. It presses against my pants, begging me to take her. To allow her to wrap that pretty mouth around it. This is the sweetest torture.

“You want to kiss me?” She peers up at me through her lashes. She is so damn beautiful I almost can’t take it. Even the freckles that pepper her nose are sexy.

“Who wouldn't want to kiss you?” I don’t know how she’s not already taken. She’s had to have been kissed a million times. I fight back the jealousy. I will just have to be the best kiss she has ever had. Whoe
ver kissed her before was a stupid fuck if they let her get away from them. Their loss will be my gain.

“You’d be surprised.” She lets out a laugh that doesn't meet her eyes. She stops laughing when she sees I’m not laughing along with her. I don’t want to think of anyone else kissing her. I also don’t care for the idea of her thinking that no one has ever wanted to. I bet no one was brave enough to just say it. I don't care. When it comes to something you want, you let go of your pride. If she shoots me down, it means I need to work harder. “Okay.” She licks her lip again. “Kiss me.”

I move as soon as the words leave her mouth, parting her legs to step between them. My hands go to her hair. I pull the tie holding it off, letting her blond locks fall free so I can bury my hands in them. If I’m going to kiss her I am going to fucking kiss her with everything I have inside of me. Letting her know that I am now her home and I’ll be everything she ever needs.

“Davis.” She gasps my name as I tilt her head back.

“Don’t tell me to stop.” My hands tighten in her hair. She tries to shake her head no. A whimper comes from her. She likes it.

“Kiss me already,” she breathes out. And I do.

I drop my head down, my mouth meeting hers. I try to be slow, to take my time, but the second my mouth touches hers everything else leaves my mind. Only the thought of tasting her more remains. I tilt her head back more as I press my mouth against hers, silently making a promise to her that I don’t even understand yet. One that says that I’ll be hers forever if she’ll let me.

Her lips are so soft. I should be gentle, but I find myself pressing against them harder, wanting to feel them more. My tongue parts her lips. She opens for me without question. I take all she gives, making love to her mouth. Her legs wrap around me as she timidly kisses me back.

I don’t stop. I won’t until she makes me. Her hands come to my chest, her nails digging into me as she starts to kiss me back as deep and as hard as I’m kissing her. She presses herself into me. I let out a growl when I feel she’s trying to rub her pussy against my cock. I can feel the heat of her each time she moves against me.
